PETS INFO

Speaking from our own experience, we understand that your pets are your family. And, like kids, each one has their own personality.

With that in mind, we work hard towards making that personality shine in your pet's portraits.

We are also always up for trying new things. If you have something specific that you would like to try, please feel free to let us know before scheduling.

REQUIREMENTS

VACCINATION AND PREVENTATIVE MEDICATIONS

First and foremost, we require your pets be vaccinated for rabies / distemperment. Should your pet bite you will need to be able to provide proof of the rabies / distemperment vaccination. Also, in fairness to our other clients, we request that your pet is current on flea & tick preventative. We are especially stringent with this in cases where we will be shooting multiple pets within the same day.

A contract is required to be signed before scheduling. Inside the contract is a pet liability waiver with a clause about these medications. By signing the contract, you acknowledge that your pet is up to date on both the rabies / distemperment vaccination and flea & tick preventative. You will also be asserting, should there be a need, that you can provide proof as such.

GROOMING

Where necessary, throughout the session, we may provide minor grooming of your pet. This helps make the retouching phase go a lot smoother. However, before your session, we require that your pet has been recently groomed either by you or a groomer.

Should your pet be in need of excessive grooming the day of your session, we may add an additional Grooming Fee, turn you away, or an Excessive Retouching Fee may need to be added.

LEASHING AND PET BEHAVIOR

Depending on the location that we are shooting in, there may be requirements for you pet to be leashed at all times. If a location does permit unleashing and you are confident in your pet, we can do so at your discretion. However, your pet and their behavior is your responsibility.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE

We ask that you be capable of controlling your pet when necessary. We may turn you away and/or reschedule, should your buddy be too rambunctious around equipment, people, or other pets. If your pet has behavioral issues, we ask that you address this with us before scheduling your session.

We reserve the right to refuse service in the event that your pet needs excessive grooming and/or exhibits behavior issues. These are rare occurrences; but, if this is the case, rescheduling may be a possibility. However, the Booking Fee from the original shoot is non-refundable.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER

Every pet has their own diet. that's why we ask that you bring some of your buddy's favorite treats, water and/or food with you. Also, don't forget a bowl and waste bags for your pet.

Sometimes being around lights might feel clinical to your pet.  This may lead to stress. Bringing your pets favorite toy, blanket, etc. may help to alleviate that stress.

Pets are loyal to their people and sometimes they don't warm up to strangers. With that in mind, we ask that there are two humans with them at their portrait session. It can be helpful for one person to manage your pet while the other aids in drawing your pets attention where its desired.

VARIABLES

With Pet Portraits, there are many more variables involved and no two sessions are the same. Sometimes, with Outdoors Environmental Portraits, we may do a series or two of Natural Shots. Other times, we may only be able to do one series of Natural Shots. In the case of your full session being in the studio, we may strictly do Lighting Shots. How we handle each session is dependent on the pet, as well as the environment that we are photographing in. Depending on how your pet responds, we may not be able to accomplish every shot that we intend on.

The following information states how we like to approach an Outdoors Environmental Pet Session and is based on ideal circumstances.

PLAY

Depending on the critter that you brought with you, the first thing we do is a little play time. This helps your pet, as well as us, to build a comfort level with each other. It also helps us learn about your pets unique personality and how we want to approach capturing that.

NATURAL LIGHTING

If we are shooting Outdoors Environmental Portraits of your pet, we first try to shoot a series of images with limited to no lighting. This allows us to capture your pet acting naturally, while giving your pet a chance to release some energy. During this time, your pet should also get accustom to being around the camera.

By the end of the Portrait Session, your pet may feel more relaxed. If this is the case and time permits, we try to shoot another series of Natural Lighting shots.

LIGHTING

After the first round of Natural Lighting shots, we start lighting for the first set of two Lighting Shots. Our ability to light plays a huge part in how we are able to produce the photographic quality which brought you here. However, lighting can take a little time. Unfortunately, in our experience, a bored pet can be an uncooperative model. During these set up times, we ask that you entertain your pet with a walk, food or play time.

LOCATIONS

We are currently open to photographing anywhere within driving distance. However, a mileage cost of $.60 per mile will be added to any shoots that are over 30 miles from Pekin, IL. Additionally, a drive time rate of $50 per hour will be added to any sessions that are over 1/2 Hr. from Pekin, IL.

ENVIRONMENTAL PORTRAITS

On location environmental portraiture is our primary focus with portrait photography.

We really enjoy photographing outdoors. We can shoot at various public or client provided outdoor locations of your choosing.

We are also highly skilled with shooting indoors and can shoot at various client provided indoor locations. This includes either your home or anywhere else where you've obtained permission.

STUDIO PORTRAITS

Provided that space is available, we can bring certain backgrounds with us to client provided indoor locations. A relatively open two stall garage is usually adequate for individuals to smaller groupings (2-5 people).

We also have studio space available to us on a rental basis. The rate for the studio rental is $45 Per Hr. with a 2 Hr. minimum.

DIRECTION

As mentioned before, pets have their own personalities. The also have a mind of their own. Often times won't just stay put, looking at the camera and saying cheese. Having two of your pet's peoples at their session helps toward getting the best out of your pet.
